Case Study #130: Foundry Shrouds

Problem: A Foundry environment, extreme temperatures and molten metal were factors in choosing the correct handling solution. Customer had a limited budget to fulfill needs of a new work cell. Previous Positech Manipulator was taken out of service due to new work cell functions.

Application: Placing and removing shrouds from a funnel.

Solution: Positech Partnership Plus enabled the rebuilding of the customer’s model Taurus® (TPA-15) Manipulator. This included heat and dust resistant sleeves, enclosure insulation, a lift cylinder boot, replacement of the forearm spacer, end-effector rotation joint and gripper end-effector with steel coped jaws. Start-up and training was supervised by Positech personnel.
