Case Study #137: Torsion Bars
Problem: Existing hydraulic manipulator was not as effective at placing bars on the paint line hanger as a pneumatic manipulator would be. The ‶float″ capability of a pneumatic manipulator and ease of maintenance convinced the customer to replace their hydraulic manipulator.
Application: Assist operators in picking, rotating and placing torsion bars off a conveyor onto a paint line hanger.
Solution: A World Manipulator® (WM-200) with 55″ of vertical travel and 360° continuous end-of-arm rotation. Coped jaw gripper end-effector. ‶Soft Stop″ circuitry on powered rotator. Pivoting, pneumatically conter balanced, T-bar operator control handle with thumb controls.
