Engineering Consultation
With nearly 40 years of experience, we can meet with your project team on-site at your facility (engineering, quality control, safety, production, and operators) to clearly define the application and the expected productive output of the project.
Installation Services
Positech can supply supervised installation (turnkey or partnership) with local contracted installation personnel or your internal maintenance personnel to assure a safe, efficient installation.
Integration Services
Positech can source and supply entire work cell solutions that may include lift assists, lift tables, conveyors, overhead rails, carts, fixtures, and other ergonomic solutions for a total project solution.
Operator and Maintenance Personnel Training
After a new piece of equipment or process is installed in your facility, it is very important that the operators, production people and maintenance personnel are trained to operate and maintain this installation safely and efficiently.
Planning & Layout Design
Positech can supply 2D and/or 3D layouts and profiles of the existing area and the product flow and production enhancement of the completed project.
Long-Term Service Support
Positech has 24-hour phone support, preventative maintenance services and spare parts support for the life of the equipment.
Case Studies
- Industry: Agriculture, Automotive, Construction
- Challenge: Torque and Impact Handling
The different angles and locations of the bolts and a restricted work cell area. A total of four units must be located in the same area with each having a different nut setter doing a different task. The customer would like to reduce the cycle time and eliminate end-effector changes during the assembly process. The ultimate goal is to reduce shock absorbed by the operator.
- Industry: Metal Fabrication, Paper
The procedure is to put a lifting bar through the reels’ axle hold and lift with a pair of slings on a spreader bar. This requires the operator to lift a heavy steel bar and push it through both reels exposing them to both lifting and twisting injuries.
- Industry: Agriculture, Construction, Military and Defense
- Challenge: Engine Handling
Pins are transferred in and out of machining centers, each with its own clearance problems dictating where the pin can be gripped. Customer’s machine operators are apprehensive concerning manipulators. End-effector must be lightweight, simplistic, operator-friendly and safe to use.
- Industry: Metal Production
- Challenge: Castings
Molds to be handled are irregularly shaped with different sized multiple “legs” extending out and down from the mold pour cup. Gripping at the center of gravity of each mold is not possible, so manual rotation difficult. Molds are solid but brittle. Large work area to be covered by a manipulator.
The previous solution, using dual hoist, required cumbersome tooling and excessive positioning caused hoist motors to burn out.
- Industry: Appliances, Electronics, HVAC
- Challenge: Electric/White Goods Handling
Placing electric panels in the cabinets was labor intensive, requiring 2 or 3 people to place and secure the panels into the cabinets.
- Industry: Appliances, HVAC, Metal Fabrication
- Challenge: Sheet Lifting
There were a wide variety of panel sizes, weights and configurations. Panel variations include flat sheets that could only be p-icked up with a vacuum end-effector and panels with large round holes that could only be picked up with a gripper end-effector.
- Industry: Chemical
- Challenge: Drum Lifting and Tipping
A new storage area was being created that required compact (vertical) storage of various drums used at the facility. Low overhead clearance and a variety of drum types required special grip considerations.
